Nursery in Progress!

I have thought long and hard about what our baby girl's nursery will look like. I want it to be classy, calm, soothing, but still cute! After posting a few photos on facebook, a fellow pregnant momma gave me the ultimate compliment. She said my nursery is something she'd tag on pinterest. I believe my overly hormonal heart may have melted right there! My fellow January mommas are just the sweetest! (Word of caution: If you have not yet been seduced by the wonderfulness of pinterest, it is super addicting and amazing in everyway! It WILL consume lots of your time!)

Not very long ago, we finally decided it was time to get started. Our crib was just sitting in the room in a box, and it was time for it to go up! So in one rainy day, my amazing husband and I headed out to Lowes to buy paint, paint the room, and get the furniture up. This was not an easy task for me. It was so hard for me to make a decision and say THIS is the color!

We brought some back up for the crib assembly. The "soon-to-be-grandpa" was thrilled to help.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. After a minor issue trying to figure out the bottom drawer, it was fully assembled!

On my next couple of days off from work, it was time to put the wall decal up! I am completely IN LOVE with our decal! If you are trying to decide whether or not to use one, go for it. It went on so much easier than I thought it would and it is just as easy to take down. We ordered ours from Etsy. If you are curious, let me know and I'll direct you to the actual Etsy shop.

This leads us to.........

Now there is still LOTS to do, but it is really coming together. I can't wait to get curtains up. Oh and we have purchased the materials to make her mobile! I'm hoping it turns out just as perfect as I see it in my head!

Bump Comparisons!

Please excuse the crappy cell phone pics.  It is my goal to get the real camera out on the next clear day that I am off of work.  For some reason it wants to rain EVERY DAY that I don't have to work!  That's okay though...because my rainboots rock!

Better Late than Never - Backstory!

Since I first found out I was pregnant, I have been meaning to start a pregnancy journal so that I can make sure to document these special memories to look back on.  Now, 24 weeks later, I'm getting started on that!  Can we say procrastination?!

I found out that I was pregnant on Mother's Day.  (What a present right?!?)  My poor DH unfortunately had to work that night, and I didn't want to drop such big news on him right before he went in for his shift, so I chose not to tell him that day.  Which also meant spending Mother's day with my own mom without telling her, not easy!  As soon as he got home the next morning, I was up waiting for him.  He came and got in bed with me, and I gave him a cuddly hug and just said it.  For some reason I was so nervous (but an excited nervous) to tell him.  I knew he would be happy, although of course shocked/scared to, because after all, being a first time parent is a BIG life change.  But I'll never forget that morning.  It was perfect! :)

To tell my parents, I went and bought two onesies (boy & girl one) that said "I Love Grandma!" and put them in a gift bag.  We took them to my mother's house, and I told her we had a late mother's day present for her.  I wanted to wait until my dad got home so he could hear the news at the same time, but he was taking FOREVER and I just couldn't wait any longer!  She was ecstatic.  She jumped up, throwing poor puppy and the present at the same time.  Addison (her little puppy) didn't know what was going on and was a little freaked out!!  My dad got home soon after, and she showed her present to him.  He is so happy and reminds me every time I see him that she will be "papaw's little girl."

A few random pregnancy facts to get us started:

  • Michael & I have been married two years in October.  This is our first child.
  • First time I felt our baby move (and knew it was definitely her): 17 weeks, 3 days
  • A/S US: 17 weeks, 4 days -- It's a girl!!  This was probably my best moment of pregnancy so far.  Michael and I were beyond excited to find out we are being blessed with a baby girl!
  • Hubby felt her move: 20 weeks!  Definitely second best moment of pregnancy so far!
  • Name - Elise Arabella.  We will call her Elise.  (It makes me nuts when people call their kids by their middle names, but that is a whole other story!)

Health check in:
